Bruno Fernandes favourite to be the next Man United captain.
Harry Maguire stepped down as the captain of Manchester United last week after taking the leadership role since his arrival in 2019.
The English defender is disappointed with the club’s decision after having lost his spot under Erik ten Hag last season.
Bruno Fernandes who took the armband in the absence of Maguire last season is the favourite to succeed the latter in the new campaign.
Five-time champions winner Casemiro is the second favourite to the Portuguese playmaker to take the captaincy role.
This would be an easy decision for Ten Hag as Fernandes has been a better leader on the pitch with his vocal feedback.
A statement read: ‘After discussions with the manager today he has informed me he is changing captain. He outlined his reasons to me and whilst I’m personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt.
‘So I wanted to say a massive thank you to the Manchester United fans for all their brilliant support whilst I’ve been wearing the armband.’
