Manchester United wants to sign Jose Gimenez from Athletico Madrid
Manchester United has expressed an interest in signing Jose Gimenez from Atletico Madrid in an attempt to strengthen their defensive line. The Red Devils, who have been without four key defenders, are desperate to re-build their defensive unit, especially when it comes to light of Lisandro Martinez’s injury.
According to Nacional, Manchester United are set to make a bid for Gimenez. The 28-year-old Argentine has proved his worth as an integral part of Atletico Madrid, helping the club win the Spanish La Liga in 2014 and 2021 under Diego Simeone.
Jose Gimenez, who has made 290 appearances for Atletico Madrid and 81 caps for Argentina’s senior national team, provides the quality and experience needed to add depth to the backline for United. Despite dealing with injuries this season, Gimenez remains a potent presence on the field, showing his talent every time, he takes the field.
Manchester United have been reported to be exploring a bid of £34.6 million to acquire this South American defensive giant. Erik ten Hag is said to hold Gimenez in high regard and is intent on making the necessary moves to get him to Manchester and improve the team’s defensive qualities as they look for success in upcoming matches.
