It has been the dream start to life at Manchester United for summer signing Daniel James as he scored his fourth goal of the season against Belarus. He has enjoyed a fine introduction to life in the Premier League since joining the Red Devils this summer.

Manchester United new boy, James continues his brilliant start to the season and has won United’s Player of the Month award for his three goals in four appearances. He also won the Goal of the Month for his goal against Southampton.

He came off the bench and scored a debut goal against Chelsea in the opening fixture. But just after four matchdays it looks like he’s on the verge of equalling Ole’s goalscoring record.

His brilliant scoring run means he has now scored in both of his home appearances for the club and if he nets another against Leicester this weekend he will match the current record. If he’s able to find the net against Leicester this weekend then he would become only the second player to score in their first three PL appearances at Old Trafford – the other was his current manager, Solskjaer.

In 1996, Solskjaer scored goals at home against Blackburn, Nottingham and Tottenham, but could be set to share his record this weekend. Something that he won’t mind at all.

Manchester United defender Viktor Lindelof has criticized his own performance following Sweden’s 1-1 draw against Norway on Sunday evening.

The towering Swede was on the scoresheet as Sweden thrashed Faroe Islands 4-0. However, they were held in their next Euro qualifier game.

Lindelof was also lambasted for a nervy display against Southampton prior to the international break.

Speaking about his own performance, he said,

‘I think I played a lousy game. I have high standards. I think I just had two passes forward.”

“I should have controlled the game more but I didn’t.”

“‘Everything was bad from our side. We had all the preconditions to play a good game. We played at home, with fantastic fans, against Norway, but we lose two points. Why? I have no idea.”

Lindelof is set to retain his duties as a center-ack when United play Leicester City in their fifth league game this weekend.

It was a long summer full of questions surrounding Paul Pogba’s possible move to Real Madrid.

Manchester United are now back to trying to tie the Frenchman down and make him stop thinking of a move to Spain.

Pogba made his desire to leave Old Trafford clear at the start of the summer, saying that he wanted a new challenge elsewhere.

A transfer saga ensued for the entirety of the close season, with Real Madrid and former club Juventus keen on signing the World Cup winner, but Manchester United unwilling to sell and the Frenchman has stayed put.

The 26-year-old has now started all four of United’s Premier League games so far this season and the club are reportedly looking to convince him to extend his stay. As soon as the transfer market was over, the Red Devils’ main objective became assuring Paul Pogba’s continuity with the Premier League giants.

Pogba is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2021, while the club retains a 12-month option on the deal that would extend it for a further season until June 2022.

However, United will now try to improve his already insane salary of 17 million a year and to shield his contract from any future proposals. And according to French outlet L’Equipe , United vice-chairman Ed Woodward has made contact with Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, to discuss a new deal.

The reports goes on to say that Manchester have space on their wage budget following the departures of high-profile players like Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez. They are said to be willing to offer Pogba some of that in an attempt to secure his future at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian’s career was absolutely tremendous, but he appears to be regretting his decision not to join Manchester United.

Rivaldo has congratulated Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino on becoming the first Brazilian to reach 50 Premier League goals.

However, the former Barcelona man thinks he could have done just as well as his compatriot in England.

Firmino is not the traditional Brazil forward; he does have touches of flamboyance and superb vision but he melds that with an incredible work rate and an appetite for tackling back and retrieving possession. The 27-year-old clocked up half a century of top-flight strikes for the Reds when he scored Liverpool’s third goal in their 3-0 win at Burnley before the international break, as they maintained their 100% record this season.

And while Rivaldo was full of praise for the Champions League winner, who has started the season in fine form, he says that he could have scored 50 goals in England if he had signed for Manchester United back during the Sir Alex Ferguson era.

“Roberto Firmino has become the first Brazilian player to reach 50 goals on Premier League and I must congratulate him for that achievement,” Rivaldo told Betfair. “He is a player of great personality, with a particular taste for scoring goals and also very clever on his movements near the opposite goal.

“Perhaps, if I had signed for Manchester United when I had the opportunity, I could have achieved something similar to what Firmino is doing at Liverpool. Of course, it would depend on the time spent there. But I did shape my style from a creative player, who only assisted others, into someone who could also score regularly.

“In five seasons with Barcelona I scored 130 goals, so why couldn’t I have scored 50 or so in England? I think it would have been possible after four or five seasons there.”

Rivaldo, who won the Ballon d’Or during his time with Barcelona, was linked with a move to Old Trafford after the Reds completed the historic treble 1999, but was unwilling to leave Barcelona.

David De Gea was dropped from Spain’s number one spot last month as Kepa Arrizibalaga picked up the starting responsibilities.

The Chelsea goalkeeper justified his selection with a terrific save against Romania last night as Spain went on to win the game 2-1.

De Gea has been the starting keeper for La Roja since overtaking Iker Casillas under Vicente del Bosque. He was a consistent performer for both club and country up until the 2018/19 season.

It is unclear as to what exactly is wrong with the 28-year-old but it clearly is all mental. He made a key error during Manchester United’s 1-2 loss against Crystal Palace when a close-range shot from Patrick van Aanholt gave the away side all three points at Old Trafford.

“If the goalkeepers are at the level that they have shown up to now, it’s possible to alternate them,” said Robert Moreno. “I don’t believe that in a national team it’s crucial that the same goalkeeper plays all the games.

“I’m expectant but I don’t see it as a debut having felt that way against the Faroe Islands and Sweden. I’m looking forward to the game and to do well.”

Moreno is open to the idea of letting both keepers to battle it out for the top spot but for now, it will be difficult for De Gea to upstage Kepa.

Manchester United defender has left international squad early.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s first taste of the England senior setup has ended prematurely because of a back problem.

The Manchester United summer arrival has been forced to withdraw from the England squad to face Bulgaria and Kosovo because of a back injury.

Wan-Bissaka has settled in impressively at United since his summer arrival from Crystal Palace.

The 21-year-old’s form led to him being rewarded with a maiden senior call-up for the home Euro 2020 qualifiers, but he will now have to wait for his first senior England cap, and is also a doubt for Manchester United’s next Premier League fixture, at home against Leicester on 14 September.

“Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been forced to withdraw from the England squad due to a back issue. Despite training with his colleagues at St George’s Park, he has had to return to United for treatment”, a statement from the Red Devils said.

United will be sweating on Wan-Bissaka’s fitness over the next two days, as they do not have many options to replace him at right-back.

Phil Jones is a possible option, though he is yet to even be included on the United bench this season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may also consider shifting the back four around and bringing youngster Axel Tuanzebe into the line-up, though Marcos Rojo would be a more likely option from the start.

According to reports, Manchester United are interested in signing Christian Eriksen in January. The Red Devils are said to be plotting a raid for the 27-year-old when the winter transfer window flings open.

Eriksen revealed that he was looking out for a new challenge this summer. However, with a move failing to materialise, the Dane will see out another six months in the English capital.

United are looking to add creativity in their midfield and Solskjaer views Eriksen as the ideal man to fit in. They also held talks with the 27-year-old in the closing days of the window, but were waived off after knowing that he preferred a move to Spain. Nonetheless, United’s interest did flatter the player.

Recently, he expressed how difficult it was to decide on his future.

He confessed: “I wish I could decide just like in Football Manager, but unfortunately I can’t.”

“For me it’s not hard to clear my head. I don’t read much of what is written.’

“But it’s clear that it’s been a little more rife this year because my contract is about to expire. There has been a lot said about me.”

“I should have been looking at houses in Madrid [according to the speculation], but I have to be honest and say that all that writing is not something that bothers me. At all.”
