Manchester United and Wales manager Ryan Giggs has heaped praise on Daniel James for his recent impressive performances. The Welsh winger, who arrived for an £18m fee from Swansea, has settled quickly at Old Trafford.

James has scored three goals in his first four Premier League games for Manchester United. The 21-year-old was on the scoresheet against Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Southampton respectively.

And, Giggs has showered a string of encouraging words on his countryman for the same.

“Dan has got off to a great start with his Manchester United career, but he’s also been brilliant for us in the last few games, especially in the summer under difficult circumstances,” he said.

‘I’ve not been surprised [by his impact for United], he’s had a good pre-season and, when you sign for a new club, that’s what you want.”

“When you score, it gives you a lift. It doesn’t matter who you are in the world or what kind of ability you have. Confidence is everything and it builds.”

“We all know what he’s capable of, what he’s done, especially over the last eight or nine months, he just keeps getting better and better.”

“He’s at the right club, Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] will know how to look after him and know when to play him.”

“It’s a club where they love wingers and players who can excite fans. I’m pleased for him and he’s got the right character. He’s at the right club with regard to keeping his feet on the ground.”

Manchester United defender has left international squad early.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s first taste of the England senior setup has ended prematurely because of a back problem.

The Manchester United summer arrival has been forced to withdraw from the England squad to face Bulgaria and Kosovo because of a back injury.

Wan-Bissaka has settled in impressively at United since his summer arrival from Crystal Palace.

The 21-year-old’s form led to him being rewarded with a maiden senior call-up for the home Euro 2020 qualifiers, but he will now have to wait for his first senior England cap, and is also a doubt for Manchester United’s next Premier League fixture, at home against Leicester on 14 September.

“Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been forced to withdraw from the England squad due to a back issue. Despite training with his colleagues at St George’s Park, he has had to return to United for treatment”, a statement from the Red Devils said.

United will be sweating on Wan-Bissaka’s fitness over the next two days, as they do not have many options to replace him at right-back.

Phil Jones is a possible option, though he is yet to even be included on the United bench this season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may also consider shifting the back four around and bringing youngster Axel Tuanzebe into the line-up, though Marcos Rojo would be a more likely option from the start.

According to reports, Manchester United are interested in signing Christian Eriksen in January. The Red Devils are said to be plotting a raid for the 27-year-old when the winter transfer window flings open.

Eriksen revealed that he was looking out for a new challenge this summer. However, with a move failing to materialise, the Dane will see out another six months in the English capital.

United are looking to add creativity in their midfield and Solskjaer views Eriksen as the ideal man to fit in. They also held talks with the 27-year-old in the closing days of the window, but were waived off after knowing that he preferred a move to Spain. Nonetheless, United’s interest did flatter the player.

Eriksen’s contract will expire next year and Spurs are willing to cash in on him to avoid losing him for free next summer.

Recently, he expressed how difficult it was to decide on his future.

He confessed: “I wish I could decide just like in Football Manager, but unfortunately I can’t.”

“For me it’s not hard to clear my head. I don’t read much of what is written.’

“And now I have been involved for many years, where there have been many rumours every year.”

“But it’s clear that it’s been a little more rife this year because my contract is about to expire. There has been a lot said about me.”

“I should have been looking at houses in Madrid [according to the speculation], but I have to be honest and say that all that writing is not something that bothers me. At all.”

OFFICIAL: Manchester United flop seals move back to Italy

The Italian full-back has secured a move away from Manchester United.

Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has joined Italian Serie A side Parma on a four-year deal.

Italy international Darmian, who arrived at Old Trafford from Torino in July 2015, made 92 appearances for United in all competitions, helping them to the FA Cup in his first season.

But the 29-year-old full back made only seven appearances for Manchester United last season and has not played at all this term under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. In addition, United’s acquisition of Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer seemed to signal the end of Darmian’s time at Old Trafford.

A statement on United’s club website read: “Manchester United can confirm that defender Matteo Darmian has signed for Italian side Parma.

“Everyone at Manchester United would like to thank Matteo for his service and wish him all the best for the future.”

The 29-year-old touched down on Italian soil during the weekend.

“I’m happy to be back home, it’s an important opportunity to get back into the Italy team”, he told Sky Italia of his reported €1.5 million move.

Darmian’s transfer comes after fellow defender Chris Smalling left to join AS Roma on a season-long loan, while forwards Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku joined Inter Milan.

Chilean Reveals Reason Behind Manchester United Failure

Alexis Sanchez insists the reason behind his failure at Manchester United is because of a lack of playing time.

The Chilean forward completed a loan move to Inter Milan this summer after striking out at Old Trafford in the past 18 months.

He arrived at Manchester with a huge reputation and on an even bigger wage package, becoming the highest-paid player in the Premier League. However, the move never panned out as Sanchez was left out of most games by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“I think that I’m happy when I play for my national team,” he told BBC Sport. “I was happy at Manchester United too, but I’ve always said to my friends: I want to play.

“If they would let me play I’ll do my best. Sometimes I’d play 60 minutes then I wouldn’t play the next game – and I didn’t know why.”

“I’m very happy I went to Manchester United,” Sanchez added. “When I went to Arsenal it was fantastic – I was happy there – but United were growing at the time, they were buying players to win something. I wanted to join them and win everything. I don’t regret going there.”

The Red Devils are currently undergoing another difficult period under Solskjaer despite winning their opening game against Chelsea 4-0. They are 8th in the standings, having collected only 5 points in their first 4 Premier League games.

Sanchez’s departure should hardly be of any hindrance since the club had already signed a replacement in Daniel James. More so, the 30-year-old made just 27 appearances last term and not a single one this campaign.

United will take a long time to restore glory days, says Gary Neville

Former Manchester United captain and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has revealed that he fears United may take a long time to come into shape under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Red Devils have won just one of their first four games before international games.

Following Saturday’s draw against Southampton, Neville also warned the United fans that there will be a lot of draws like them yet to come as the season progresses.

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, he said,

“I think when you have a team that’s young like this Manchester United team is, it’s got a lot of players who are developing and trying to prove themselves, I think they’re going to get a lot of results like this where they do alright in the game. I actually though it was OK the performance yesterday but they just don’t have that clinical element to see it off, to be able to sort of win the game.”

“There is an element of frustration at the moment from Manchester United fans because obviously where the club have been, there’s still that recent history of big success under Sir Alex Ferguson, but there’s been six or seven years now [of less success] and I think there’s an element of frustration building, real frustration, that they’re not on the right track.”

“I think that they are on the right track in my opinion in terms of what they’re doing. Because the first thing that Manchester United have to do, you have to have a group of people in that changing room – it’s so important – who want to be there. Forget how talented they are.”

“Sir Alex Ferguson came down from Aberdeen in ’86 and he got rid of some of the most talented players in the club to change the culture. He was given a long time, he was given two, three, four years. You think of Norman Whiteside that was let go, Paul McGrath was let go. They were some of the most talented players that were in the squad, but he culturally wanted to try and change what was happening.”

“And I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in what he’s doing is trying to play the long game. To play the long game he’s going to need the support from up above and he’s going to need really strong leadership over the next two or three seasons to be able to have those four or five transfer windows that he needs. Not just to actually get people in the dressing room who are all facing in the same direction, but to get the quality that’s needed. You need the quality to go with the sort of alignment, if you like.”

“And what I think to be fair Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have done at Liverpool and Manchester City is it took them two or three years. Well, it took Pep 12 months, two or three transfer windows because I think he had a better squad. It’s taken Klopp two, three, four years to affect the culture fully and get a team fully in what he would think is his style, his culture and what he wants to do. And that does just take some time, and I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is working more with a squad that Jurgen Klopp picked up [quality-wise] than the one Pep Guardiola picked up.”

“So from that point of view I think it’s going to be a little bit of a long game, and it is going to be frustrating, and there are going to be results like Southampton and Crystal Palace along the way, but I think when you watch the team a lot of the principles are correct, they seem to be playing the right way. You see Daniel James score that goal, the way in which they’re trying to play, the style of it, it’s right. So the bones are there, but there is a long way to go and it’s going to be bumpy.”

According to reports, Mason Greenwood is set to be offered a new contract by Manchester United. The 17-year-old is set to be offered an improved contract with pay of £25k per week, following his integration in the first team.

Greenwood played a major part in United’s summer tour. He was on the scoresheet in the club’s 4-0 victory over Leeds United and also scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Inter Milan.

The youngster has appeared as a substitute in each of Man United’s four league games and shown tremendous promise. His increasing presence in the first team will be met with a new contract, albeit he signed a new deal only last October.

Singing praises about his abilities, Solskjaer said,

“I think with his movement and his cleverness, he’s going to be a very good player, the young boy.”

“He must stay clear of injuries, be professional and I’m sure he’s going to grab his chance. Everything is there for him.”

Greenwood also received a U21 callup from England and could be involved in the Euro qualifiers against Turkey and Kosovo.

United need to have Cantona-esque arrogance, says Maguire

Harry Maguire has stated that Manchester United need to get the arrogance of former legend Eric Cantona if they wish to win games in succession.

The United fans were found singing Cantona’s name at St. Mary’s and Maguire is of the opinion that the team needs to play with the same kind of arrogance that the Frenchman did.

“It’s another game where we’ve deserved to win. We’ve created the majority of the chances and we’ve dropped two points,” he said as United dropped two more points on their visit to Southampton in a 1-1 draw.

“The start of our season has been like that. We deserved to win at Wolves and then we conceded two shot against Palace and they scored two.”

“We can definitely improve, especially on the ball. We gave the ball away far too much.”

“We were too sloppy and we need to improve on that and show arrogance and be confident on the ball. We’re Man United – we want to control games.”

“There were spells where we didn’t control the game, and we got punished.”

“That’s how we should play all the way through the game. You’ve seen the confidence of the players when they went down to ten men.”

“They seemed like they wanted the ball, everyone wanted to create a chance. We did enough in that 15 minutes to score a goal.”

“We’ve got to be more clinical. We had numerous crosses, numerous balls across the box, we just needed to stick one in. We’ll keep working hard, keep improving.”

Harry Maguire will wish to come back to winning ways, as he prepares to face former employers Leicester City following the international break.

Manchester United are miles off City and Liverpool, says Micky Gray

Former England and Sunderland defender Micky Gray has said that United are miles off behind Manchester City and Liverpool. He has also predicted that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won’t last until the end of the season.

Following their 1-1 draw against Southampton, Gray said,

“It should never have got into that situation in the first place, but it seems to have happened over the past four or five seasons where they [Manchester United] haven’t really looked like challenging for the title.”

“Yes they have won the Europa League and the cup competitions, but they are a million miles away from where they need to be.”

“I think it’s going to take another three or four transfer windows before they actually get to where they want to be.”

“Man City and Liverpool right now are just streets ahead of Manchester United and you have got to look at the sides who we will probably class as the ‘Top Six’ – they are better than Man United on a weekly basis.”

“You never know what you are going to get from this Man United squad at the moment. Yes they have got good individual players, but they are so far off the mark it’s untrue.”

“They can’t get it right with the managers; I don’t think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the guy to take them forward so do they need to replace him?”

“Going into the second half of the season in January, I suppose that we will have to wait and see what the results are like when we get to that position.”

“But that is a long process – that is not something that is going to get fixed overnight.”

Manchester United are set to face Leicester City following the international break.

have been held to a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s.

Another James screamer could not inspire United as they were held to a 1-1 draw by ten-man Southampton on Saturday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are now winless in their last three Premier league fixtures after their opening weekend victory over Chelsea.

Summer signing Daniel James got the visitors off to the perfect start with a sensational goal inside 10 minutes – his third of the season. But United were unable to build on their advantage and eventually conceded courtesy of Saints central defender Jannik Vestergaard.

The Dane out jumped Victor Lindelof in the box to seal a priceless point for Ralph Hassenhuttl’s men, who played the final 20 minutes with 10 men after Kevin Danso’s red card. Matters were made complicated when Danso, who provided a superb cross for the equalizer, was shown a second yellow card for a mindless challenge with 17 minutes remaining.

Manchester piled on the pressure, introducing Mason Greenwood and Jesse Lingard, but Southampton held firm despite the late onslaught. Sofiane Boufal went close as Saints hassled and harried from the outset, only to be undone as right-back Cedric Soares, making his first league start of the season, was dragged out of position by Juan Mata’s smart overlapping run.

That movement gave James time and space just inside the box to rifle a stunning effort past Angus Gunn into the top right-hand corner. The Welsh flyer’s next attempt was far tamer and easy to stop, while fellow new boy Aaron Wan-Bissaka poked over from a fine Scott McTominay cross.

Gunn produced an unorthodox punch when James next tried his luck and the offside flag saved Marcus Rashford’s blushes after he was found by the goalscorer’s cross in a good position but headed horribly wide.

Both sets of fans had something to cheer when a thumping Vestergaard clearance hit divisive referee Mike Dean – a moment that was followed by Saints belatedly jolting into life.

Danny Ings flashed wide and new boy Danso’s vast throw-ins were alarming the United backline. McTominay did well block a Boufal effort and Harry Maguire was booked for a lunge on Che Adams. Rashford fluffed his lines early in the second half after Vestergaard misread a ball over the top – a missed chance that the giant Danish defender would make United pay for.

Shortly after Adams lashed over from an acute angle, Ings met a smart Boufal corner with a flick that David De Gea did well to stop. But the ball fell to Danso and he turned to float over a superb cross that imposing Vestergaard headed home after beating Lindelof.
