Ed Woodward Hesitant To Shell Out £70m For Midfield Ace

Ed Woodward Hesitant To Shell Out £70m For Midfield Ace

Manchester United chairman, Ed Woodward is reportedly hesitant over paying a lofty sum for Portuguese midfielder, Bruno Fernandes.

The Sporting Lisbon ace who has set the European stage on fire with his 32 goals in 53 appearances this season is being pursued by a number of outfits, including direct rivals, Liverpool.

United havea strong chance of paying out £70m and quickly making Fernandes one of their own but Woodward is still contemplating on the player’s talents. This is a bit peculiar since nothing has been said about Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s input – the manager of the club who is supposed to dictate which player comes in or goes.

Fernandes secured the United Nations League trophy for Portugal, winning 1-0 against the Netherlands last night. He has admitted previously that he has strong wishes to play in England one day.

“I always said that I came back to Sporting because they have ambitions like the ones I have, the midfield told Diario de Noticias. “I said that I would leave Sporting once my ambitions were greater than those of the club, but they are not at the moment. The ambition to be national champion is still here and so I have no reason to leave.

“Obviously if an irrefutable proposal for me arrives, and it’s good for the club, let’s get together and decide together.

“I always said that I was an ambitious player and from a very early age I have a dream of playing in England, where you can live pure football without big controversy, without big cases.

“Now, any of the other leagues, Germany, Spain and Italy are also very good and ambitious. But as I said I’m good at Sporting and now I’m focused on the cup. Then I want to make a good pre-season and if anything comes up I’m available to do what is best for the club.”

Manchester United are set for a busy summer.

It is no secret that the squad Ed Woodward has assembled over the years is a weak one. He is a not someone with football acumen and his transfer policy has been the biggest example of how poor his judgement is when it comes to football.

They are now set for an overhaul with players going and new faces coming in at Old Trafford.

One player who has been very highly linked is Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff. The player who plies his trade in midfield has been a real surge for the Magpies this season and was easily their best player this season until he got injured unfortunately.

However, Longstaff has distanced himself from the reports and said that despite being flattered by the links he is not really interested in leaving Newcastle this summer.

“It just shows how far I’ve come,” he told the Newcastle Chronicle.

“If someone told us at the start of the season that by the end of it you’d be linked with these teams I’d have laughed at them but it’s nice, it’s flattering.

“I’m massively flattered to have my name even mentioned in those conversations but like I said, I’m 100% focused on Newcastle and trying to get fit and get back in the team here.”

Manchester United Reject Lukaku Swap For Argentine Striker

Manchester United Reject Lukaku Swap For Argentine Striker

Manchester United fans are surprisingly pleased to hear that Romelu Lukaku will not be swapped for Inter Milan this summer.

The Belgian forward, who came in for an initial fee of £75m in 2017 has struggled for form this past season. He has flirted with the option of moving to Italy to reunite with Antonio Conte at the San Siro.

Both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Conte have a massive job of revamping their respective squad this summer. Icardi wants out of Inter and it was suggested that an exchange deal could be applied.

However, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that the potential deal was set off by the Premier League giants. He tweeted, “#Inter Icardi is considered out of every project by the executives and especially by Antonio Conte. Mauro insists on staying and demonstrating already in withdrawal what he can give, count does not want to know: it is for sale and no longer matters on him.”

An United fan posed a question to that Tweet, “Was it true Icardi was offered for a swap with Lukaku?”

To which Romano replied, “Man Utd refused!”

Icardi scored 17 goals in 37 appearances last season and is regarded as one of the best number nines in the world. However, he has not warmed up to the United fans as evident from their responses to the post.

One wrote, “Wouldn’t want Icardi at any cost. He has the worst attitude in football these days. I’m so glad we refused this. Rate Lukaku higher.”

Manchester United Clear Favourites Over Liverpool And City To Sign £60m Ace

Manchester United Clear Favourites Over Liverpool And City To Sign £60m Ace

Reports have claimed Manchester United to be the clear favourites to land Leicester City ace, James Maddison this summer, over the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

The other two Premier League heavy hitters have enjoyed rewarding campaigns this past year but the Red Devils have the upper hand when it comes to the attacking midfielder. Maddison is valued at £60m and his odds of ending up at Old Trafford next season has been lifted to 4/11 by Betway.

United are desperately looking to revamp their current squad with Ed Woodward set to sanction a huge treasure chest for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Their disappointing final run of the 2018/19 season has led them to believe that their present lineup is simply not good enough to compete for the Premier League title.

Their most creative player, Paul Pogba has been strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford. Juventus and Real Madrid are his top potential destinations and United could be forced to see if the player expresses a desire a leave.

Maddison has jumped into the limelight after just one season in the Premier League. The 22-year-old racked up 7 goals and 7 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.

He could be the team’s driving force next season from the central number ten position. He is much more needed by the Red Devils than he is by Liverpool or Manchester City. That particular aspect could very well decide where he decides to move this summer.

Joining Manchester United is a dream for any youngster.

Daniel James is now all set to join the Red Devils and his addition will be of great interest for all parties involved.

Manchester United are in dire need of a makeover and a winger on the right hand side who can cross the ball in regularly with great accuracy and United fans will be hoping James is the man.

Ryan Giggs has urged United fans to support the player and believes Daniel will enjoy playing at Old Trafford.

“I know the United fans will get behind him and enjoy watching him. It’s fantastic for everyone I think – for Dan, for Manchester United, and it’s a good deal for Swansea as well,” he told reporters.

“It’s the biggest club in the world so my message to him is enjoy the challenge, don’t be anyone else, and you’ll be fine.”

“Dan is fine. He’s trained well and he’s a level-headed lad,” Giggs said. “Obviously after the terrible news with his dad we had to be flexible in everything that was on the table.”

“He went home on Thursday, but he’s in a good place. He’s assured me he’s ready to play.”

Manchester United Impatient To Conclude A Deal For £70m Midfielder

Manchester United Impatient To Conclude A Deal For £70m Midfielder

Manchester United have been linked with a lot of world-class talents this summer but so far they have failed to sign anyone.

Bruno Fernandes has long been a target of the Old Trafford-based outfit but United are facing competition from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. Of course, the two Champions League finalists seem like more a far more lucrative destination for the Sporting Lisbon midfielder but the Red Devils seem to be the only one who can pay his £70m asking price.

Manchester City have expressed a desire as well but they are strongly leaning towards Atletico Madrid’s Rodri. Fernandes is currently busy on international duties in the UEFA Nations League.

Ed Woodward is impatient to conclude a deal for the central defender right after the completion of the tournament. The 24-year-old helped Portugal to the finals after a 3-1 win over Switzerland this week.

Reports claim that the 24-year-old’s agent, Miguel Pinho will be travelling to London soon to meet with several clubs over a potential transfer. Fernandes stood out this past season, scoring 32 goals and setting up 18 assists in 53 games across all competitions for Sporting.

With Pogba drawing stronger links to a move away from Manchester this summer, Fernandes is being lined up as a creative replacement in the central area.

Manchester United edging closer to major signing

Youri Tielemans has expressed his satisfaction at being linked with a move to Manchester United.

Ever since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United have found it more difficult to sign big players with more misses than hits when it comes to players of some stature.

However, it would seem that things could be changing for the Red Devils this summer. They finished the season rather poorly and will need new names and reinforcements this summer.

Things could be moving in the right direction with Tielemans happy to discuss a potential move.

“We’ll see which club it will be. The only thing I can say is that things are moving,” he said.

“A lot of clubs have shown interest and we’ll see in the next few weeks which club it will be.

“(Manchester United and Spurs) are really big teams in England and in Europe so yeah, it’s flattering to hear those names.

“For me, it’s good, it gives me confidence. I’ll just try to play my game on the pitch and to do my best.”

Signing Tielemans will give them a major boost in a midfield which seems less and less functional by the day.

Who Manchester United’s Natural Pick Should Be To Replace David De Gea

0
Who Manchester United's Natural Pick Should Be To Replace David De Gea

The Sun reporter Chloe Beresford believes that Manchester United should target AC Milan Gianluigi Donnarumma as a potential replacement for the contract-troubled David De Gea.

The Italian shot-stopper does not just share a first name with Gianluigi Buffon. Both of them emerged as future stars when they were still very young.

While Buffon is a living legend, Donnarumma seems to be on the right path after making his debut at only 16, just like his predecessor. Now, the Milan keeper is 20 years old and is being shopped around by the Serie A outfit for Financial Fair Play reasons.

The club is under heavy financial stress which they will have to get rid of soon in order to survive as a top-tier club. They were nearing bankruptcy before Elliot Management swooped in and bailed them out.

Selling some of their best assets remain their best shot of cutting it with the FFP rules and being allowed to play in next season’s Europa League. Plus, Manchester United have already done business with the player’s agent, Mino Raiola before.

Other clients like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sergio Romero, all ended up Old Trafford through him. As De Gea’s contract runs down to its final season, United might be wise to consider cashing in on him this summer.

The Paris Saint-Germain interests are significant and it would be much better to sell him now than to lose him later. Donnarumma might still not be a finished product but he has shown the pedigree of how good he truly could be in the Europea top-flight.

Why Matthijs De Ligt Is No Longer A Target For Manchester United

Why Matthijs De Ligt Is No Longer A Target For Manchester United

Manchester United have supposedly let up on their attempts to sign Ajax defender, Matthijs de Ligt after their multiple offers being rejected by the Dutch outfit.

The Red Devils are in the market for an experienced centre-back and even with his immeasurable talent, de Ligt might not be the right fit at Old Trafford, according to Daily Star reporter, Duncan Castles.

“We know Manchester United made a huge financial offer to De Ligt and [his agent Mino] Raiola to come there and they made a big effort to persuade the player to dump his verbal agreement with Barcelona and tried hard on that deal,” he told The Transfer Window podcast.

“But what Manchester United are telling people who are discussing the centre-back position with them is that De Ligt will not be coming to the club, to disregard what they have seen in the press because the deal is not going to happen.

“They are looking to add one centre-back. They’ve now shifted their stance in that earlier in the summer their idea was to stick with the players they had, and we’re talking before the season ended, that [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer was happy with his centre-backs and if they added one it would be a young, developing centre-back who would come in as a backup to the current group and would hopefully develop into a starter.

“They now recognise they need a more experienced individual. Not necessarily someone in his late 20s or 30s, but not that category of a development centre-back – someone who would actually play. De Ligt is, according to them, not going to happen.”

Manchester United Target Doesn’t Want To Leave His Current Club

0
Manchester United Target Doesn't Want To Leave His Current Club

Richarlison has refuted speculations linking him with a move to Manchester United but insisted it’s a nice feeling when big clubs show interest in him.

The Everton forward arrived at the club last summer and had a fruitful campaign having netted on 14 occasions for the club. Predominantly a left winger the 22 year old can play across the front three and it’s his versatility which has made him a very interesting prospect.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been on the lookout for some attacking reinforcements and Richarlison could be an alternative. The likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are expected to be at the forefront next season and the Brazilian could form a deadly trio with them.

Should the Toffees sanction a move for the youngster they would be looking for at least £100m to let him leave the Goodison Park. However, the player himself is very happy at the club and wants to make his stay longer in the Merseyside.

“It’s a nice feeling when you get praise for your good work, but I’m not thinking about a transfer at the moment.

“I’ve just arrived at Everton. I’m happy here.”
