Bruno reveals free-kick strategy after netting winner against Liverpool

Manchester United won a thriller last night in the FA Cup against Liverpool.

The Reds took on Red Devils in Old Trafford and it was a fitting tie full of goals as the match swung from one end to another. Ultimately, it was United who prevailed to win the match 3-2 after Bruno Fernandes scored a winner in the 3-2 fixture 10 minutes from full time.

Bruno has now talked about the lead up in tactics which saw him score from the free kick.

“Edi before the free-kick told me: ‘try a hard one on the side of the keeper’. I tried it and it went in well,” Fernandes said.

Despite Fermandes working on his technique of late, he explained it wasn’t a forgone conclusion he’d take the set-piece.

“No, no! I think normally a little bit more long distance is for Rash (Marcus Rashford). I think he feels more comfortable [from there], for me it is the same, to go the [closer] distance. I think closer to the box is better for me, for the kind of shot I have,” said the Portuguese international.

“Of course, if Juan (Mata) and Alex (Telles) are on the pitch it’s a chance for them, more on the right side. I think we have good free-kick specialists. I think we have some players who can take [good free-kicks]. It will depend on the moment. In that moment, I felt I was confident to take the free-kick. It was me and luckily it was a goal.

“I think with this result, with a goal in the last minutes, it would be really good. I think the fans would love it,” he added.

Reasons For Manchester United vs Sheffield United Betting Tips and Our Predictions

The Manchester United squad are certainly the favourites to win this match at 1.28 with Unibet, with Sheffield United priced at 12.00 with Unibet to lose all three points at Old Trafford.

Fans should not get too caught up in the recent form since there is still a lot of football to be played and this match a big chance for Manchester United to finally increase their dominance in the Premier League charts.

They have been handed higher odds of 1.28 with Unibet due to their obvious levels of talent in the current squad and their sheer stature in English football.

We do expect Sheffield to put up a resolute performance as they have against other top English opponents, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur like the prior season. But Chris Wilder’s men have registered only a single win this campaign and are given odds of 12.00 with Unibet.

Speaking of quality, this will be an opportunity for Marcus Rashford to continue on his excellent scoring run like last season and that is why he has been handed odds of 5.10 with Unibet to score the first goal.

Ole Solskjaer Wants Dayot Upamecano At Manchester United

Ole Solskjaer Wants Dayot Upamecano At Manchester United

Ole Solskjaer has been pushing for the signature of Dayot Upamecano this season.

According to the Sun, Upamecano’s release clause of £38m wil get activated next summer.

Seeing how he is one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe, that is a fee that is very affordable for United. Even through the financial pandemic, the Red Devils can easily cough up that amount for a player of his calibre and potential.

Manchester United are looking to make further additions in defence after the signing of Harry Maguire, Alex Telles and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to be not enough. Pairing Maguire with someone like Upamecano, who’s speed, athleticism and aggressive tackling style with match perfectly, seems like a no brainer.

The Red Devils are also looking at highly-rated Real Madrid man, Raphael Varane. United have been after the Frenchman for several years now and have a good chance of landing him soon. Varane is 27 years old, more experienced and has a contract which runs out in 18 months.

If United fail to get their hands on Upamecano, they will likely move for Varane. Right now, Solskjaer will want to keep his focus on the title charge. Eric Bailly has stepped up in defence to help United to the very top of the table.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has launched a staunch defence of the tactics used by him for Manchester United.

“We didn’t go out there to drop deep and try to soak up the pressure,” said Solskjaer. “We attacked every time we got the ball, maybe too much.

“We kept giving it away, that was the challenge. We went forward too quickly. The thought that we weren’t attacking, for me I don’t understand that one.

“It’s the quality of what we did, we need to do better. We tried to press them high. It’s not easy, they played well, they played their way out of our press. They had five midfielders out there to play out plus a ‘keeper who is very capable.

“When you look back at it, I think it was a good game by the two teams. We played against a top Liverpool team.

“Yeah, (Virgil) Van Dijk is not there but everyone’s got an injury or two here or there. I was very pleased with the performance when I looked at it after.”

“It’s not that you have to attack quickly every time, it’s a decision you’ve got to make there and then,” he added.

“Of course, it’s in our DNA that if you see a pass, do it. Do it well. I didn’t think we executed the passes well enough. Some of the runs were maybe too eager, especially at Anfield. I felt one or two times there we could have been one-on-one with the keeper.

“For us, it’s about fine-tuning. We do loads of work but it’s about taking a moment in the game and I feel we’re getting there.”

Man United leads the Premier League table by two points.

The club’s record goalscorer Wayne Rooney has backed his former team to win the Premier League title this season.

The Red Devils have not won the league title since 2013 when Rooney was still a player for United.

Derby manager Rooney believes Solskjaer has given Paul Pogba the freedom to finally flourish at United.

“The last few years, Manchester United haven’t been ready to challenge for the title, but now they’ve brought in players like Fernandes and Cavani – players with a winning mentality – that has helped massively,” said Man United legend Wayne Rooney.

“And now the squad is challenging for a Premier League title. I said to the coaches in the office here six weeks ago that I thought Manchester United will win the League. I still feel that today.

How Has Paul Pogba One Again Become A Sensation

Paul Pogba seem to have hit another good patch of form for Manchester United.

The Frenchman’s stunning left-footed effort from range was the difference-maker for United last night.

Edinson Cavani equalized after Ademola Lookman’s early goal for Fulham. After the hour mark, Pogba’s moment of brilliance put United ahead and eventually handed them the three points.

Rio Ferdinand noticed how good Pogba has been recently and pointed out why. He told BT Sport, “Today he (Pogba) put in a fantastic performance.

“The big difference recently is he’s been playing quicker. He’s quick with what he’s doing, the efficiency is top, top drawer. He is a magnificent footballer and when he’s in this form, he’s one of the best.”

Pogba’s time at Manchester United has mostly been marred by fan abuse, inconsistent displays and periods out on sidelines. His start to the season was rough just like it was in the last one but he seems to have picked up confidence recently.

The Frenchman was also the difference-maker in the 1-0 win over Burnley a week back which put United top of the table. If he continues to perform at this rate, United might have a serious asset in their armoury for this season’s title push.

Solskajer believes he has proven that he is the right man for the United job.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are currently sitting at the top of the table but the Norwegian manager admits that it’s not hard to keep that position.

He was being looked down upon by many but it’s great to see how Solskjaer has turned things around at Manchester United.

“Hopefully I have proven that I can help the club going forwards,” said Solskjaer.

“Personally I have felt very strong backing and leadership from the club, which has made the journey that we’ve been on — ups and downs — clear.

“The position we are in now is due to loads of hard work by everyone. We are halfway through the season and we are up there.

“It is not about getting there once — that is the easy bit to go up the league.

“Staying there is the challenge and that is the challenge we are looking forward to. Focusing on every game and building this squad and hope that in the end we can lift the trophy. That is when you can talk about moving the team where it should be.”
