Marcus Rashford sends advice to Mason Greenwood

Marcus Rashford has advised Mason Greenwood to ignore outside influences and keep his head on football.

Greenwood became the youngest Manchester United player to reach 15 goals in a season since Wayne Rooney.

The youngster scored a brace in their 5-2 win against Bournemouth on Saturday. His performance in recent times have been lauded by the United boss but he refuses to compare Greenwood with United legends Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rashford suggested his teammate to ignore praise and outside influence and keep focus on his football.

“He’s a fantastic player. I’ve watched him before he got to the first-team. It was never a matter of if was going to play with us, it was just when. When can we get him involved? Ole has done a terrific job with him,” Rashford said.

“First of all, he put him in the squad and brought him on against PSG and that for a player, as a first step, it’s huge and it shows that the manager had confidence in him. You’ve got no reason not to have confidence in a player like Mason.

“But, for me, I just tell him to keep doing what he’s doing because what he does is score goals, so he doesn’t need to do anything else. You know, forget everything whatever people are doing outside, whether it’s praise or negativity.

“I just think there’s a massive flood of positivity right now and momentum. For us, we want to keep that going. All three of us scored. Mason scored two. That’s the type of momentum we want to keep going. That’s it, really.

“He’s done very well for the whole season. It’s not just these bits he’s been scoring goals. He’s been working hard for the team and doing the dirty work, you know the unseen work. He does it so he deserves all the credit that he gets.”

Solskjaer won’t compare Greenwood with Ronaldo

Solskjaer won't compare Greenwood with Ronaldo

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer described the teenager as a specialist ‘finisher’.

The Red Devils striker scored a brace in their 5-2 win against Bournemouth at Old Trafford. The youngster has been in a blistering form scoring 15 goals in all competitions this season.

Solskjaer believes Greenwood is following a similar path as club legends Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I have seen Wayne Rooney at the same age and Mason is a specialist finisher and specialist goal-scorer… He knows exactly what to do with the ball when he’s on the pitch,” Solskjaer told reporters.

“If he shoots, he’ll score. He’s going to get better and his general play has improved. I don’t want to compare him to Rooney or Ronaldo, as that’s not fair, and he’ll create his own career. He’s doing it his own way.

“Both of those have had fantastic careers, and I’m sure if Mason keeps on doing the right things and making good decisions, he will have a fantastic career. It’s Mason’s first season, but we’ve always known there’s a special kid there.”

United’s front three has scored 55 goals in all competitions this season and Solskjaer is confident that things are only going to get better.

United extended their unbeaten run to 16 matches in all competitions.

Manchester United will be visiting Villa Park for their Premier League clash on Thursday.

Manchester United agree ‘personal terms’ with Jadon Sancho

Manchester United have reportedly agreed ‘personal terms’ with Jadon Sancho.

The Borussia Dortmund winger has been on a brilliant run of form in the recently concluded Bundesliga season. The former Manchester City academy star is still only a teenager but has conquered the interest of the world and every major club in Europe with his potential.

Sancho is reportedly being chased by Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, PSG, and Real Madrid with Barcelona and Juventus on the lines as well. A move to Manchester United is being considered the likeliest situation with Dortmund very strong on their stance.

It is being reported that the German club is adamant about not selling Sancho below a £100 million valuation at the least and United are simply not ready to pay that much.

The club are ready to fight out the battle of patience but the latest reports are claiming that they have already solved the second part of the contract – the personal deal with Sancho.

It is believed he agreed to a 5-year contract worth £140,000-a-week at Old Trafford, with his salary increasing to £200k over the course of the contract.

It now should only be a matter of time before United and Dortmund settle on a fee for the highly-rated English international.

Solskjaer In Agreement With Gary Neville’s View On Team Form

Former United legend and football pundit Gary Neville had earlier said that Manchester United needed “three or four players of high-quality”.

And looks like the Manchester United boss agrees with him, even though United triumphed in the Brighton game recently.

“Gary is right in a lot of things he says and of course we cannot think we’re there because if you look at the table, we’re nowhere near where we should be,” Solskjaer, whose side are fifth in the Premier League, said.

“Consistency has to be improved. We still probably have to improve on many aspects of the game.

“I don’t know how many points we’re behind the top two so definitely Gary’s right.

“There’s not going to be any complacency and thinking ‘this is it, we’ve cracked it’ because we’ve got so much work to do.

“But it’s an enjoyable journey, you can see improvements so, yeah, we need to make one or two very good decisions – or more good decisions – but it’s going to be an important summer, definitely.”

Also, in the coronavirus pandemic, the transfer market opened and closed a lot of opportunities for clubs everywhere, especially with the financial hit the clubs took.

When asked how the club plans to deal with transfers in the middle of that, Solskjaer said: “It’s going to be a strange transfer window and I don’t expect a lot of big transfers, maybe. I don’t know.

Liverpool star deemed as perfect signing for Manchester United

Liverpool star deemed as perfect signing for Manchester United

Liverpool forward Roberto Firminho has been described as the perfect signing for United by former player Eric Djemba-Djemba.

The Brazil international is having a glorious campaign and was also instrumental in helping Liverpool win the Premier League title after 30 long years.

Former Reds midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba touted him as an ideal signing though he knows that it is highly unlikely the deal would go through.

Djemba-Djemba made 20 Premier League appearances for the club from 2003 to 2005 and believes one or two signings in the position of centre back and striker needs to be made to challenge for trophies next season.

“I would love to see Koulibaly come in to the defence, I think he would make a really big impact on the team,” Djemba-Djemba told BettingApps.com.

“I would love to see one more striker in the [Ruud] Van Nistelrooy mould come in; someone who can score the goals, who can bring everyone into the play and someone who knows the league.

“Unfortunately I think the perfect striker for United is at Liverpool. Roberto Firmino would be the perfect striker for United, but they will never get him.

“If United were willing to spend so much on Martial, they should definitely go and spend £100million on Harry Kane. He would be worth it.”

Dwight Yorke urges Solskjaer to sign this perfect defender

Dwight Yorke urges Manchester United to sing Kalidou Koulibaly.

Dwight Yorke believes that Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly would be the perfect partner for Harry Maguire.

Kalidou Koulibaly is considered as one of the world’s best defenders and is valued at £90million by Italian club Napoli.

The 29-year old has been heavily linked with Manchester United since the past two years. Premier League giants such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are also keen to sign the Senegal international.

Yorke believes a defender of his calibre would be a perfect match for Harry Maguire who arrived from Leicester City last summer for £80million.

Yorke told Stadium Astro: ‘Without a doubt I think he’s one that everyone is after and if Manchester United are going to make some big signings like they always do, I would definitely sign him, if we can afford him then why not?

‘I think he is the perfect fit to come into centre-half alongside Maguire, that would be awesome to have him there and suddenly we look a proper team then, with the likes of Pogba and Bruno and one of the holding midfielders and the front three forwards as I mentioned. ‘We become a team who suddenly everybody will be fearing.’

‘But certainly with everyone after him, what he’s done in the Italian league so far he is a name everyone is after. ‘If he’s one that everyone is after then why should United not go after him? ‘And that sends a clear message that we are hard to beat and certainly with the quality we are possessing at the minute, for me that’s kind of a no-brainer if I were United at this stage.

‘If I was Ole or in Ole’s position, I would be persuading to get him because I know how important it is to have another centre-half of his quality alongside Maguire.’

Manchester United Press From The Front – Ole Solskjaer

Manchester United Press From The Front - Ole Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised his players for their defensive solidity in recent games.

It was a comprehensive 3-0 win for the Red Devils on their visit to Brighton this week, conceding just twice in their last 8 Premier League games.

“You can see with the quality of the talent we have going forward that we have a foundation to play from,” Solskjaer told a media conference. “We have a good shape, do good pressing and have a back four that’s used to each other.

“There’s lots of reasons behind the clean sheets, which is the foundation for any good team. We know that we are 11 men attacking and defending – we defend from the front. We know how difficult it is to play Brighton and to stop them getting into a rhythm. We have a screen in front of the back four, which is difficult to get past. We’re very happy with the shape and intensity.”

“It’s been good since the restart,” he added. “We agreed what we wanted to do and we have come back fitter and stronger and we are ready to challenge.

“We have many games coming up we will keep changing, players are getting better and sharper and we have players who had a fantastic season who haven’t played. We are too far behind to be on the road to something special [this season] but the team is improving. We are still in the FA Cup, Europa League and in the race for the Champions League.”

Roy Keane hits out at Alexis Sanchez critics

Roy Keane has defended Alexis Sanchez from people who criticize him for the wages he was on at Old Trafford.

Alexis Sanchez failed to make an impact since his arrival at Old Trafford from Arsenal in January 2018.

The Chilean International is currently on loan with Inter Milan and many think his career at Manchester United has come to an end.

The 31-year old’s wages has been a controversial topic which automatically corresponds to his performances and Roy Keane thinks fans should not be worrying how much the former Copa America winner earns.

During an interview with The Independent, Keane said, “I don’t know why anyone would ever be worried at what players are getting. The first thing you mention to me is his wages. What’s his wages got to do with me and you?

“Other people are overpaid. In the media. Actors have a bad movie and they make 20 million dollars but I don’t hear people criticise them. ‘Oh, but they made a good one two years ago’.

“The bottom line is the club gave him the wages; the club agreed the contract and a contact is there to be honoured. He’s having a difficult spell.

“A lot of players will have difficult spells. But I certainly wouldn’t look at a player who is on X amount and get angry.”

Roy Keane is not convinced by Man United’s defence or their title chances

Roy Keane believes it will still be some time before Manchester United can challenge at the top.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane asked the club to not get carried away by their recent run of performances and they a long way to match their rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.

A mediocre start to the Premier League this season has left them in the sixth place in the league, five points off of Chelsea. He believes the club needs to strengthen their defence in the summer transfer window.

In an interview with The Independent, Keane said, ‘They have obviously strengthened but the table doesn’t lie. Look at their points total. I know people say they’ve had one or two decent results – against Man City and Liverpool – but it’s all about the point. They haven’t been consistent enough.

‘They will certainly be pushing to get that fourth position but trying to get fourth and winning the league is a big leap. They need one or two players. I think United are short at the back.

‘So, no, I don’t see United competing in the next year or two for the league. I think there’s going to be improvement and they will close the gap, but there is a bit of work to be done for Ole and the players. They’re missing something.’

Solskjaer explains why United struggled against Norwich and went on praising his substitutes

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United’s progress to the semi-finals is crucial to develop the squad’s winning mentality.

United struggled to beat Norwich City after the coach made eight changes to the side that easily beat Sheffield United in the Premier League.

The ease and rhythm to United’s attack had vanished and the Norwegian clarified it was the consequence of making so many changes tot the side.

“We’re really happy with going through, Jesse Lingard and the others that hadn’t played and needed another game, they needed minutes to get the sharpness back and in that respect this worked out really well,” he said after Harry Maguire’s extra-time winner.

“The difference between training and games, the competitive edge, will help them in the next few months.

“This team, they played together against Derby in the last round, it took us too long to get into rhythm of trusting ourselves passing between the lines, one and two touches, we moved the ball a little bit too slowly. We kept prodding and we got the goals we needed.”

Solskjaer also praised Odion Ighalo after the striker scored his fifth goal in four starts for the club.

“It was very important (to keep him at the club), that was important for me and we worked hard to do it, Odion knows how much we value him in and around the dressing room, he’s a goal scorer, a poacher, he’s strong, we can play the ball into him, he showed for the second and Paul (Pogba) found him,” Solskjaer said.

“He’s performing well but it also gives me the chance to rotate with Marcus (Rashford), Anthony and Mason (Greenwood) so they can get a rest and we’re fresh for every game.”
